Bungus Valley

Tucked away in the Kupwara district of Jammu & Kashmir, Bungus Valley (also called Bangus Valley) is one of the most pristine and untouched landscapes of the region. Spanning over 300 square kilometers, this high-altitude meadow sits at around 10,000 feet above sea level, surrounded by dense pine forests and snow-capped Himalayan peaks.

Bungus is famous for its sprawling green pastures, crystal-clear streams, and colorful wildflowers that bloom during spring and summer. The valley is divided into Bungus (Big) and Lokut Bungus (Small), each offering unique scenic vistas and tranquil settings perfect for camping, trekking, and nature photography. Adventure enthusiasts can explore the nearby alpine meadows and rugged trails, while those seeking peace can enjoy the serenity of untouched nature.

Local shepherd communities graze their livestock here, adding a cultural charm to the valley. With very few tourists, Bungus remains an offbeat destination ideal for travelers who want to experience Kashmir’s raw, unspoiled beauty.
